Descrizione
Die Waldregionen teilen den Kanton in Gebiete, in welchen bezüglich Geologie und klimatischen Verhältnissen ähnliche Standortfaktoren auftreten. Die meisten Waldregionen entsprechen ihrem geologischen Untergrund, bis auf die «Föhnregion», in welcher der Föhn- und Seeeinfluss für das Vorkommen der Waldgesellschaften bedeutender ist als die Geologie. Die Einteilung lehnt sich an jene des Schwyzer Waldbuchs «Mehr als nur Bäume» von Hans-Ulrich Frey (2022) an.
