Description
This data package contains information on the number of minutes of relevant regional information broadcast by licensed commercial Swiss local radio stations during prime time hours (Monday to Friday, 6am to 9.15am, 11.30am to 1.30pm, and 4pm to 7.15pm). The data is based on the duration of informational content measured during prime time (average number of minutes per day). The data was collected by the research institute Publicom AG. Since 2020, licensed commercial broadcasters of local and regional radio and television have been required to fulfil an information mandate, which is assessed according to a quantitative minimum requirement. This requirement refers to the proportion of relevant local or regional information during prime time hours. Local radio stations with a performance mandate must broadcast at least 30 minutes of relevant regional information daily. Relevant subject areas include politics, business, society, culture and sport. Regional information is defined as content where, for example, the location of the event or the area affected is within the coverage area. The analyses are based on randomly selected sample days that form an artificial week. This consists of seven weekdays (Monday to Sunday) distributed throughout the year.
