Description

This data set contains information on the turnover generated by print media from advertising and retail sales. The data on advertising revenue comes from Stiftung Werbestatistik Schweiz. The data on sales revenue is based on calculations made by OFCOM's Media Services Section. Sales revenue is the sum of the sales revenue of all weekly and Sunday press titles. For an individual print title, the sales revenue is calculated by multiplying the retail price, the WEMF-certified circulation figure and the frequency of publication (daily press: 303, Sunday newspapers: 52). This value is adjusted by a factor of 2.5 because revenue from subscriptions is not taken into account. The sales revenue is therefore only an approximation of the actual turnover that the print media achieve with single sales. The single sales prices, and thus also the totals in this data set, are not adjusted for inflation.
